Wow! This article is just what i needed. Tomorrow, we are interviewing for a DH for the first time and your list of questions is going to come in real handy. Thank you so much.
I would also love to see your list of rules as this would be our fist experience having a live in maid and have no idea what to expect.
Thanks again.

I will have a new helper next week and think it would be good to have a schedule and rules and google about it. Saw your website and very appreciate you sharing your experience! Do you have a written list of rules or schedules that can share? Thanks in advance!

These helpers are not machines they are humans too, they have feelings and bad habits just like anyone. The best way to make helper's function properly would be your communication with each other, be in touch with her. If you want to be treated by others well, then treat others well too. Most helpers have children, they took this kind of job in desperation to support their families back home. Use those info's to get closer to your helpers (in a good sense of way) let them know you care for them and if they realize that, they would care for you too.

After some weeks with the helper. Point out what are her bad habits and never tolerate them, praise them as well if they do a job well done. If you don't like some of their results, tell them and teach them how would you like it done.

I have some friends who became helpers, most of them are simple minded and good people. I don't have the power to direct their lives but at least i care for them. When ever they go home and pour their life stories, experiences as a DH in HK its the same story as their employer.

It will all come down to how you improve your relation with your helpers.

3 Tips On Hiring a DH:
1. Choose helpers who are working as a DH for their children and families. Not those who work for their own pleasure.
2. Observe their action, the more simple minded the helper the better.
3. Age, the younger the better teach them. Old one's are traditional, you'd be into a lot of discussions(less work).
