I agree to your point about not having drama. While in an ideal world, we should treat them like part of the family, there comes a line to how much emotional support and therapy you give them. Like all employees, they are there to help in a productive way. Unproductive and even disruptive behaviour is a chore on everyone (including the children indirectly). I wish you the best of luck in your journey and in time, you’ll find someone that works. As for the quickly disappearing food items, that’s a hard one to gauge. For me, I tell my helper that everything in the kitchen is for her to eat and use as well, but for herself only (not for friends, or to take out with her and ship home). It should be a mutually trusted relationship and sounds like that’s not happening for you All the best! Lisa

I am expecting my first child in one month and so we are hiring a helper (first time).
Could you please send me your rules so that I have an examples of things that need to be precised for the helper ?
