I think I would be good at sales – true sales that is (not presales, not post sales, and not selling Louis Vuitton).  My ideal sales position would be selling solutions.  Maybe technology solutions.  I still love tech – I enjoy it very much on an interest level and I try to abreast of technology news whenever I can.  The only type of tech I don’t enjoy is coding tech.  I don’t care for syntax, I don’t care for algorithms, I don’t care for code efficiency, I don’t care for …

My sister’s brother-in-law introduced her to a unique board game called “The Settlers of Catan”.  On the outside, it looks like a boring game, with a rather boring graphic of a bunch of boring people dressed like pioneers in muted colours (maybe I’ve been hanging around children too much – I need to see things in bright colours in order to maintain my focus).
It took about 5 minutes to explain how to play initially and then you kind of get the hang of it as you play.  In general, everyone …

As I was going about my usual morning, children care, putting the baby to sleep, Vanessa’s fight to get her school uniform on, I started cataloguing the number of times I said “UGH, I hate it when that happens!”
Some instances are not necessarily hair-pulling, as my balding friend on the left would perceive, but merely a grimace that was worthy of note.
For parents, some can relate to my grimacing.  So without further ado, don’t you hate it when:

your child is almost asleep and when you move to leave the room, …

The National holiday has come and gone (or is still going) and what this means for Hong Kongers is a public holidays. Whoppee!  China, on the other hand, is entitled to many holidays, which means its citizens are flocking to HK in droves to purchase baby formula.  What started out as heart-breaking news, has turned into a feeding frenzy of powdered milk purchasers.

So what happened was two nights ago before National Day actually kicked in, my husband gets a call from his father telling him to (at 8 PM) head …

As I journey to work on the MTR (still working part-time now), I find myself packed like a sardine, without a seat and reading “Fortune”. The most recent issue (on display until October 6, 2008) is a hodge podge of articles on the american economy, Paulson and his plans, MySpace and little tid bits of interesting articles that make my commute so much faster. I read a magazine for numerous reasons.

It’s light-weight
It’s recyclable (so the bumps and knocks that may potential tear my read won’t bother me long term)
It’s up-to-date …

I smell fish in the air and what’s going on with the financial markets these days?!  Within a span on 8 hours from yesterday (Sept 18) noon, the HSI jumped 2000+ points.  I remember checking in the morning, it was down -1300 and then checked again after markets closed and it was close to positive territory.  Well, part of the “magic” is the US waving its magic wand.  It’s amazing how manipulation of markets by regulators and governments can happen overnight (literally!!).  And now, the SEC is banning short selling …

Can you spot the difference?  So whose who?  Sometimes to me, Victoria looks nothing like her sister, but then, there are days that she does.  Maybe it’s what kind of outfit I put them in.  I was just thinking about how much my life has changed since the introduction of children.  For those new parents, I’m sure you can relate to the immediate changes in your life, but once things settle, it’s startling how significant the changes are.  My reflections occured this morning while I was taking care of …

I broil when i read or hear negative news that involves children and infants.  The most recent is the eruption of problems of Sanlu milk products, mainly in their infant formulas.  For starters, the people who are producing this stuff should be shot.  With 3 children dead and over 6,000 have fallen ill – someone has to be responsible.  China has always been well known for their loop holes and problematic quality assurance and this really tops it.  I’m even wondering whether they have downgraded the number of problems – you …

Instead of writing a rant (which I’ve been mumbling to myself about in the shower), I’ve decided to make this a productive post on issues I’ve have to deal with in regards to having domestic helpers. Given that I’m currently on my 3rd helper within the span of 1 year, I’ve had my fair share of problems (albeit some of them are mine).
For starters, this article is really meant for people who HAVE helpers. If you’re looking to hire, best check out my earlier post “How to Hire a Domestic …
