Working Mothers’ Guilt (WMG) is the condition whereby mothers who work (who are not full-time, stay-at-home mums lovingly caring for their children during the day) compulsively feel the need to compensate for not spending enough quality time with their children by feeling terribly, horribly guilty.
My sister quoted the above and right now, I am about to go through it. I have been thinking a lot about not feeling guilty because I am going back to work – full-time. This means, no more SAHM (Stay at home mom) for me. It means …

There is a secrety society of a select group of individuals whom work and live in complete silence. You may think it’s a cult, or sect, or unique bunch of individuals and you’re right. They are unique, but they do not belong to a sect or cult. Their existence is passed through word of mouth. On this side of the country, in Hong Kong, they don’t belong – legally. On that side of the country, in China, it’s a prized and sought after privilege. These are the illegal immigrants who …

I have been chasing a series. A fascinating series on vampires and werewolves and I can’t stop. It’s the vampire series called “The Twilight Saga” written by Stephenie Meyer. The books are titled “Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn”.
The problem right now is that I read faster than I am able to get my hands on the books. My friend Tina lent me the first two and you can imagine her surprise three days later that I’ve almost finished the second book with book three and four at her …

As I was sitting in my living room, unpacking my 6 pieces of luggage because we bought so much stuff from Toronto (funny that because I bet you that 99.9% of the items are made in China), so many inconveniences hit on me that I realized that missing Toronto wasn’t just an emotional reaction.
Here’s a list of things that grated on me within a span of 12 hours:
While putting Victoria down to sleep – I could clearly hear everyone outside just down the hall. There is only 1 wooden door …

My best friend told me yesterday over dinner that Harper’s Bazaar had an article on the harmful effects of buying fakes. Some of the revenue generated from purchasing “fake” products – such as fake purses, which include LV, Gucci, Prada, Fendi or any other high end to medium name brands, end up funding illegal and HARMFUL activity such as drug trafficking, terrorism, child labor and poor working conditions.
So why do you want a Louis Vuitton purse anyways? Well, for starters, it’s a status symbol and it’s cool to have one because …

OK, so sorry for not really updating or doing anything with lisatong.com – it’s because I have been tremendously busy with building my new project (in conjunction with Tracy) and we thought maybe we should do a soft launch and so we did.
My newest project? http://www.TheChineseSoupLady.com
It’s a consolidated database that contains as many Chinese soups as we can get our hands on. The idea really is to generate interest in a niche market for Western born Chinese folks like ourselves who enjoy drinking homemade soups that our parents make, but …

My site is going under construction – AGAIN. I’ve been recently talking to a friend who suggested I streamline my site so that it’s really got a purpose rather than floundering around with whatever pops into my head. I’ve given this much thought and decided that he was right. Streamlining it to serve a higher, greater purpose makes sense – especially since my readership has been steadily increasing. I hit 318 unique hits last week on one day! WOOHOO!
So what you’ll see (or not see) is a steady stream of …

I just wanted to make this a quick post on Christmas Day and wish everyone a very, very Merry Christmas! To all my friends & family in Hong Kong who are already on Christmas Day – hope you’re enjoying it as your big day(s) off!
Right now, under our Christmas tree in Toronto, Vanessa has a pile of gifts from my parents’ friends. She’s been pretty good about asking to open them (because she has other things distracting her). We will however, embark on a present ripping spree early Christmas morning …

I’m determined to follow through with this project. There are so many project ideas that I start, but never finish whether it be from a business idea, a home project, a novel or whatever, it seems that launching it off the ground is always easy but going to full completion is challenging. You should see how many novel ideas I have – even with using the snowflake design method, I’ve got an assortment of novel ideas.
I just have to keep focus on this task at hand and complete the novel. …

I was at Vaughan Mills today (checking it out because I have never been there and spending some quality time with my parents) and they have an amazing food court. It’s large, spacious, and they have a wide variety of “fast foods” available for everyone’s good wholesome bodies – except children’s.
During our meal, I saw at least 4 other children families (meaning with children at around Vanessa’s age of 2) and their parents were giving them either KFC, Taco Bell or NY Fries – which ultimately means CRAP. I got …
