One Pacifier Just Isn’t Enough

As part of my plan to play some “catch-up” on my year’s worth of lost posts, here’s a funny picture that I did share and want to share again!
Congratulations to Victoria!  Officially as of August 2010 – she is pacifier FREE!  That means at the age of around 2.5 years, we were able to ween her off the pacifier and now she sleeps just as well (if not better) without it.  The story is that my father (in front of a large live audience of 6 people) asked her …

Are you sad?  Are you feeling down?  Well, most people I show this video to end up cracking a smile or laughing out loud.  It is rather funny and children will be children.  I was originally not going to put this up on my blog, but it is just too funny to ignore.  It is these moments that I try to capture of my children – no matter how silly, how sad, how funny – I capture it all.  I mean, it is digital media afterall and if they get …

It’s always a fun and thoroughly chaotic time hanging out with Dennis’ friends (whom all of little princesses at home).  Most gatherings harness more children than adults and it scares the wait staff that the long table needs more high chairs than adult chairs.  Our server was a good sport at Ruby Tuesdays in Taikoo Shing – he offered to watch Victoria for me and commented that she had lost her shoes and asked the kitchen to slow down the onslaught of …

I am rather proud of Vanessa’s school art work.  They are pretty innovative and creative and the techniques they use in school are interesting.  She’s used paint in a variety of ways (including her fingers), she’s done follow the dots and created 3-D art that she can wear.  I really do like the school and their innovative ways of teaching.  There are so many things they try to develop in the child that it goes beyond the scope of home-schooling.  The interaction you get from the other …

A few days ago, we trashed Tracy’s house with a whole bunch of kids.  It was a zoo, but it was fun.  Do you realize how difficult it is to take pictures with so many kids?  The only way we got them to sit across the sofa like that was to start up “Elmo’s World” and have them watch it for a bit before intruding in on their gig and taking pictures.   In the end, only Vanessa was screaming “Excuse Me!!!” for us to move our butts …

So during Chinese New Year, it’s a pretty big tradition for the kids to wear Chinese outfits.  Even in Vanessa’s school, they recommended the kids wear CNY outfits on the last day before the holidays.  I though Vanessa looked adorable and pretty Chinese, but those other kids.  They were decked from head to toe, including shoes, hair styles and hats.  Wow, I guess competition is pretty tough when it comes to having your kids look the best, but still, my little Vanessa still rocked it on like a …

I love babies in jumpers.  It’s so cute and sometimes impractical for changing and stuff, but who cares!  Victoria’s been wearing more jumpers than her sister (probably because of our time in Toronto and Grand Ma bought her loads), but as you can see, she can’t lie still to get it on and it’s a challenge to change her and put clothes on her.   The other problem with jumpers is they are limited in size, which means, if you child begins to outgrow it, you can’t really wear …

Vanessa decided to become an art canvas on her own accord.  She probably thought it would be funny to colour her whole palm the colour blue and when I initially asked her what was wrong with her hand (because she had it hidden behind her back), she merely laughed shyly and shook her head.  In those instances, you know she’s hiding something.  With some coercing, she showed me her blue hand and that’s when I thought it deserved a few pictures.  Of course, I chastised her about …

Vanessa has taken a certain attraction to my camera.  Every time I take it out to take pictures of the children, she will insist (with some stomping and screaming) that she wants to take the pictures and will strongly recommend that I be in the photos.  Take a look at some of her work:

She’s got the right idea on how to handle a camera and uses the viewfinder (sometimes), but because the button isn’t that easy to press, she sometimes focuses too …

We couldn’t find any suitable shovels at Canadian Tire, Toys R Us or The Super Center, so instead, my mother gets a plastic gray pooper scooper from the dollar store and it worked magically as a mini shovel for Vanessa.  Not to mention that my dad picked up a one dollar bucket and little shovel from Toys R Us one day as well – so she had plenty of toys to keep her busy while we cleaned up the drive way.
As we finish up, Vanessa has …
