I’m writing this article as I sit in a dilemma about what to do with my nails. They’re unpainted, but well kept and kept as short as possible (I cut them about once a week because I can’t stand them to be any longer). On the flip side though, I sometimes do like getting manicures or having painted nails, but with a busy schedule of kids, work and no time to maintain it, I’m debating about trying gel nails. However, having done some research on-line, I’ve decided, not yet and …

Lately, I’ve been sleeping REALLY well. It’s probably the best sleep I’ve had since being pregnant with baby #1 back in September of 2006. Yes, that’s almost 4 years of unmanageable, poor sleep. Can you believe it? Although I don’t sleep in anymore (nothing past 7:00 AM), my nights are still crash sleep and I feel pretty rested afterward. So how did I do it? Read on my sleepy friend, read on!
The sleeping place is what it is. A place to sleep.
I don’t have computers, television or anything distracting in …

I’ve been taking some preventation measures since discovering the frequency in which mold grows on EVERYTHING in Hong Kong - (you can read my previous article on “How to remove mold or mildew from HONG KONG walls?”) especially where I live on the island. Just want to share with you so you can take them too and hopefully reduce the growth rate of mold. I recently opened a box of wallets I don’t often used, only to find that 4 out of 5 of our wallets were moldy. Needless to …

Now that I’m working again, my focus in clothes shopping is mainly work clothes and because of my repetitive nature, I tend to buy the basics (in different colours and shapes) - but there’s a general theme to my purchases. REPETITIVE USE. This means, I can re-wear probably the same clothing at least once a week with minimal notice that I’m wearing the same thing! LOL. This is usually achieveable with “black” items and because black is one of the brand colours of my organization, I can sure get away …

My new year’s resolution isn’t something for myself, it’s something for the world. I have decided to focus on trying to do 1 good thing a day for someone else - that means doing something outside of my normal scope of work and life. A few examples of things I’ve done thus far:
Help a woman by herself with a stroller down a set of stairs (with one injured hand)
Direct a couple who were looking for each other but we just standing where they were waiting for the other party. It was …

I finally decided to go “artjamming”. My sister is an avid and enthusiastic artjammer and has been trying to get me to go for some time.
Artjamming is a self organized event that allows “budding artists” to act on their talent. You pay a fee for a set period of time and get materials to follow through. Our Saturday night session cost $400 HKD (minimum) for 4 hours on a 65″x45″ canvas and boy, IT WAS FUN!
Here’s what I drew (Left) - the hair is colored in as well - I …

Well to be exact, it’s not completely digital. It can be if you don’t physically print them, but like me, you can take a snapshot and just send it out to friends. But I am also getting these digitally printed (with envelopes and everything) so I can send hard copies to some close family and friends.
I’ve promoted artscow.com before and I can seriously say that they are a pretty CHEAP digital printer. With some specials, you can print coin purses for $0.99 USD (including shipping). I’ve also gotten multiple free …

All last week and into this week, I was going out to eat. It’s nice to go out to eat once in awhile, but not everyday I’ve discovered. It’s OK for my husband, but I’ve come to realize that I do need that take-out down time every once in awhile.
Here’s why you should pack a lunch:
Aren’t you tired of thinking of what to eat EVERY DAY? I already have this problem with once in awhile lunches with friends, much less think of what to eat everyday
You can utilize great leftovers
Waste not, …

I say tiny because it’s all referential. In Toronto, space is everywhere. In Hong Kong, space is no where. And with a growing family, the house remains the same, but the contents are growing. When I first moved here and gutted the house, I didn’t realize how important it was to truly save space. I bought off the shelf furniture (which is still OK in Hong Kong, but you’re not optimizing the space) and found that there were a few key concepts I just wasn’t aware of. To make matters …
