It’s day 7 of our arrival to Toronto and the youngest is still having sleeping problems.  I’m not sure whether it’s a jet lag problem, but in general, her sleeping has been horrendous to say the least.  Here’s how it has been going for the past few days:
4:30 AM – Wake up
7:00 AM – Breakfast
8:00 AM – Nap (or at least try) and she will nap for 45 minutes.?
10:30 AM – Milk
12:00 PM – Lunch
1:00 PM – Nap (again, 45 minutes only)
4:00 PM – Dinner
6:00 PM – Milk
6:30 PM – …

We bought the most amazing boots for Vanessa yesterday.  In search of weather-proof, water-prooft, snow-proof, slip resistant boots, we happened to run into a pair of absolutely adorable CROC boots for kids.  She wore them with jeans (tucked in) and a matching sweat shirt and I thought she was the cutest fashion diva alive.  I will be sure to take pictures next time of her oozing diva-ness and she tromped around the store showing them off and looking in the mirror (how vain).  Really, the bottom line is that these …

So here’s a post (or rant rather) on kids and sleeping.  I write this article because it’s really to inform those who are reading my blog about how much sleep kids really need.  Living in Hong Kong has really opened my eyes to how little sleep HK kids are getting and lack of sleep does have detrimental effects to a child’s development.

I’ve taken much effort into baby-proofing my house.  You want to have your house as safe as possible so that you’re minimizing risk of injury (with or without your supervision). 

Using playmats.  The use of playmats is great.  You can get them at Toys R Us as big sheets in an array of colours.  I’ve only quarantined their play area and Vanessa’s bedroom (to cushion falling off the beds) and no slippers or shoes are allowed on these areas (plus I get my helper to clean it daily).
