Comparison Of “Inputs” - Electronic Or Otherwise
I found this incredible comparison of “inputs” of a 221 word passage from theIphoneBlog (another great regular feed of mine). I am an iPhone lover. Ever since giving up my Palm Treo to “try” the iPhone, I have never looked back. Sorry Palm, although I was a loyal and difficult-to-convert user, my husband managed to convince me and I am now a crazy Apple lover.
Back to my original point is how efficient the iPhone can be. It’s not meant to be experimental, merely observational. We all know that keyboard typing is fast, but for obvious reasons you can’t bring it out with you as conveniently as smaller devices. I can’t imagine a phone the size of a keyboard, it’s not practical. So some dude decided to test a theory of inputting a 221 word passage by various means to compare speed - results below:

It’s rather interesting. What makes the iPhone so great is its ability to recognize words based on patterns and error input - thus making typing “wrong” ”right”, if you get my meaning. I never thought a “soft” keyboard would be a good invention, especially because we’re so conditioned to feel the keys before pressing, but in hindsight, if the 25% errors I make are recitified through word recognition - then it doesn’t matter.
