Artjamming

I finally decided to go “artjamming”.  My sister is an avid and enthusiastic artjammer and has been trying to get me to go for some time.

Artjamming is a self organized event that allows “budding artists” to act on their talent.  You pay a fee for a set period of time and get materials to follow through.  Our Saturday night session cost $400 HKD (minimum) for 4 hours on a 65″x45″ canvas and boy, IT WAS FUN!

Here’s what I drew (Left) - the hair is colored in as well - I just don’t have a final picture yet.  Can you guess who it is?   It’s Victoria!  Now I need to go back to do another one of Vanessa or I will be labeled as unjust to my children.  I’m pretty happy with this piece and it wasn’t too difficult to do.  I think I’m just not good with abstract stuff - I need to be able to paint something I see (and not just visualize).

Here’s a photo of Tray’s final product (Right).  Can you guess what element she’s doing?  I actually REALLY like this piece.  It might be a bit frightening if you hang it in your house, but it’s fabulous art nonetheless.  I’m also sorry I don’t have pictures of the other girls (it was a girls night - there were 5 of us).  I am waiting for my best bud to load up her photos from her camera to show off the other pieces!

Oh, the place also had this freakish toilet (in my mind).  It’s like an incinerating toilet that incinerates your waste.  You flush your waste into this hole and then “BURN IT” - literally.  And it does smell like something is burning.  Because you have to push a red rubber button to burn it, I was so scared it would ignite the whole bathroom - with me in it!  It’s weird, it’s green and it’s a unique experience.  Made me hold my liquid all that more! AH-HAHA.

Overall though, if you want to add some personal work to your house, have a good time and let out your inner artist, you should go artjamming.  They provide all the paints, tools, canvases for you to create and will help direct you in mixing colours and how to achieve maximum results.  Glad I went!
