The Story of My Hand

Please read Part I: “Pain Worse Than Child Birth

Thanks to all for their support during these past 2 weeks.  The condition of my hand has improved, but still not at 100% functionality.  I have removed the stitches last Wednesday (with a berating doctor who told me I should have been using it more - so FINE!  I am now slowly using it more).  Thought I would be brave today and removed the water-proof bandage in preparation for bandage removal on Tuesday and now much to my chagrin (and unexpected shock), it’s stiff as a rock because the wound has finally had time to air and it’s stiffened.  My progress has back-tracked and I’m scared to move it more for popping open the wound.  The doctor thinks I’m a wuss and to be quite honest, I am - but who cares.

This post is really to say thank you to everyone at work and at home who have given me so much support and understading over the duration of these 2 weeks.  It’s to those who have helped me wash my hair, cut up my spaghetti, warned me a billion times not to eat certain foods (The Chinese believe that with wounds such as mine, I can’t eat eggs, shrimp, crab, beef, duck, goose and blah blah blah), bring my laptop and accessories around to meetings and have ordered only food that I can eat.  It’s truly in times like these that I know I am surrounded by friends and family and what better time than to have it coincide with Christmas.  Thank you for a great 2009.  Thank you for unconditional support and love.  Thank you to my readers for your understanding.  I wish everyone a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year’s and wonderful tidings for 2010 and beyond.

A picture of my hand - doesn’t look too shabby eh?
