Pain Worse than Child Birth

*Update on Dec 11, 2009*  Thanks to all for your email, SMS & comment wishes.  I am faring well and mildly using my right-hand (for typing and stuff), but am still sore & in minimal pain.  Stitches come out in 6 days! WOOHOOO - totally not looking forward to that, but a necessary evil.  Just glad nothing more serious happened and can only look forward to when I can write again!  Cheers.

******************************************

My sudden gap in posting is sorely justified - literally.  I was in Bangkok, Thailand for 4 days - in which I had intentions of blogging reviews about the restaurants and spas there.  But, on Sunday with our kids at Taikoo Shing mall an unfortunate accident befell me and swallowed me whole.

To cut a long and painful story short, I was graced with a wicked gash that required 9 stitches to close a never-ending bloody wound (pardon the pun) to the right-hand and I am now succumbed to an arm sling (to prevent further bleeding and a messy heal).  Do you realize how difficult things have become since I have rendered my right-hand useless?

For starters, I am working from home because:

  1. I smell.  I haven’t washed my hair for 4 days until early this morning my mother-in-law insisted on washing my hair for me.  She has been most helpful during these days and hmm, maybe my stench was becoming a bit too much.
  2. If I am not in pain, I am groggy.  I try not to take my painkillers because they make me dizzy, drowsy and grumpy - but my stupid wound some how likes to throb and send sharp stabs every time the painkillers wear out.
  3. Also, my left hand is severely being overused and gets tired very often, so I literally just sit around being a dirty, drugged invalid.

I will give the wound a few more days to close before making use of my right-hand.  I am terribly afraid of blood and I am a weakling to pain.  Luckily, both children weren’t hurt - that in itself makes me to suck this up and just deal with it.  So, I won’t be posting for a few more days, but it’s Christmas soon - so maybe I should also take a vacation break from being online.
