The How-To, Thoughts »
My sister came up with this topic idea and I think it’s fabulous! I tend to focus on the operational side of things rather than the emotional side, so this bodes well for learning and reinforcing from my end as a parent to my children.
How do you explain the presence of a new person in the house?
How do you explain who this person is?
How do you explain what they do and why they do it?
I see the challenge of “explaining the role of your domestic helper to your children” in …

It’s funny how kids can have so much fun while singing and moving at the same time. Victoria and Vanessa LOVE to play “ring around the rosy” - especially with more adults because they end up swinging from their arms with their legs off the ground. Kids - especially babies love “Incy Wincy Spiders” when you do it for them. Even my youngest, Victoria at 1.5 years still loves it because I swing her arms wide and high and she just laughs when I do. Of course, it also helps …

Because my readership has grown - especially amongst colleagues (since I’ve accidentally let the cat out of the bag), people ask me two key question:
How do you have time to maintain a blog?
How do you come up with the content?
Here’s a quickie post to your fathlomless and perpetual questions.
How do you have time to maintain a blog?
Simple. Wordpress and about 10 minutes per post (on average). By using a simple blogging platform - you can basically login from any web connection and blab away and effectively post immediately or schedule …

How appropriate given the recent weather conditions locally. Yes, the last few nights and days found Hong Kong at around 9-10 degrees Celcius weather. As a Canadian, I might argue that “BAH, 10 degrees? That’s NOTHING!”, but you’d be surprised at how cold it FEELS. The things working against you:
I live by the sea - literally. So my apartment is the first line of defense in cold winds. Which means, I am eating the wind.
There is no central heating. How I miss central heating. You take it for granted in …

CHANEL is about to launch it’s CHANEL Paris-Shanghai collection! Actually, you should check out some of the iconic pieces - fabulous! And although it looks very elegant, classic and simple, I love how it’s still CHANEL. I have never been a big fan because some of the tweed feels very “mature”, however, I was floored by some of the pieces showcased here. The show will be broadcasted live on December 3, 2009 - so stay tuned!!

This is a continuation of Domestic helper issues and how to deal with them (Part 1). If you’re looking to hire a domestic helper in Hong Kong, you may want to check out this article first: “How to hire a domestic helper in Hong Kong”
No domestic helper is without problems. In this sense, I don’t mean that the helper herself has problems - it might be a mismatch of personalities between you and this other someone. You are after all living under the same roof and when opinions or tastes …

Well to be exact, it’s not completely digital. It can be if you don’t physically print them, but like me, you can take a snapshot and just send it out to friends. But I am also getting these digitally printed (with envelopes and everything) so I can send hard copies to some close family and friends.
I’ve promoted artscow.com before and I can seriously say that they are a pretty CHEAP digital printer. With some specials, you can print coin purses for $0.99 USD (including shipping). I’ve also gotten multiple free …

I know, it’s already middle of November and I am way behind (or way ahead) of the Halloween schedule. My bad. Call it lack of focus in prepping the photos, call it messed up timing - whatever. I’ve had lots on my mind of late.
I thought I would share these uber cute halloween cat costume for kids pics with my readers. Of course, it starts as simply as purchasing the halloween cat costume - for an astonishingly affordable $30 HKD off a street vendor. All you need is some black …

A massive stroller recall in the US has sparked reaction across the globe about the risks of Maclaren strollers. 12 children in the US had their fingers amputated by the hinge mechanism of the foldable strollers. Apparently, there are no cases in Hong Kong or Canada. I’m making no assumptions here, but I sit on the fence with this issue.
Firstly, anything that isn’t child-proof - especially products that are being used by children, should not be sold. However, one can debate that the child isn’t opening and closing the stroller, …
