Hong Kong Island East Swimming

I really enjoy bringing my kids to this pool.  For starters, there are 3 pools to play in.

  1. Shallow baby pool (pictured above in the front).  The depth is probably 3 inches at its deepest and it’s a great “sitting” pool for babies to adjust to water play.  It’s basically a giant bath tub (and you probably put more water in your bath tub too).
  2. The children’s pool (picture behind the little pool).  It’s really large and long and has a variety of slides, water fountains, spouts, spurts and really neat activities for children.  It even has a rubber tire swing that rotates 360 degrees.  This pool is only knee deep on me (around 2-3 feet in depth) - which means even for Vanessa (my three year old) she can fully stand in it at chest height and even have her face above the water with her hands on the floor.  Minimal drowning risk.
  3. Adult pool.  I call it the lap pool because that’s what it’s meant for, but on weekends, you’re lucky if you can do a full lap in it without a traffic jam.  But it’s still great for kids to learn to float and be adult swimmers.

I have been bringing my kids swimming here for the past 2 weeks (Saturday and Sunday) and found that even by myself, I am able to manage both kids (with some frantic-mother craziness - especially during the showers).  But, it’s worth it.  You can literally kill 1.5 - 2 hours here and burn their energy at the same time.  We spend about 60-80 minutes swimming - playing (or until their little digits have become prunes) and another 30-45 minutes showering.  Really, it’s a leisurely morning meant to kill time!  And in the afternoons, they nap like the dead!  It’s great!!

So I am usually there on Saturdays and Sundays (unless we have other calorie burning exercises for children), so stop by and say hello in the early mornings.  You can be sure we’re there at 9!

Cool Lisa, you managed to take a photo of the place! I always wanted to blog about my girls having fun there, but don’t want to do it w/o photo illustrations and them in the photo. I’ll have to ’steal’ this photo from you…LOL
and what time of the day did you take this picture? How come there’s like noone in the photo?

Steal it!! LOL, I stole it too! From the government website. They don’t allow cameras in, so I was thinking for the longest time how I was going to post about this without pictures! But by all means, it’s on public domain! :P

You know the other week when we came over to swim, I wanted to take a picture of the place to show Dave, but wondered if they allowed cameras. Good thinking!!
