Wiki Software

So my organization has been recently looking for some cool collaboration software.  Working with teams across the region is a difficult, if not impossible task to co-ordinate meetings, tasks, action items, agreements and even just simply getting things done.  The barriers?  Well, distance for one, remote working, and language.  Here’s where I’m finding I really need to polish and enhance my mandarin!

There are some really cool, cool technology out there that assists with all types of collaboration work.  One super cool one is a wiki software.  It is like an internal community with content and document sharing and real on-line collaboration.  You can have everything sorted and organized, rather than emails all over the place and various versions flying around (which is quite annoying).  Actually, it’s almost like SaaS (Software as a Service) - a very common type of software offering all over the web.  The company also does bug tracking and issue tracking modules - which are effective for figuring out who does what - especially when things are project-based.

I was definitely most impressed with the wiki community.  Because I’m a blogger, these types of interaction and platforms are important and because our organization doesn’t sit together in the same office, you need this type of platform to stay in touch and share - especially when you need transparency across the region.  It’s really cool - almost reminds me of a twitter type/forum hybrid.  See, only technie people would see the web as being used in this respect :P
