Round 2 of My Moleskine 2.0 Exhibition!

As the due date of My Moleskine 2.0 Exhibition neared, I was frantically trying to finish last minute touches.  To add to my resource constraint, I was running and hosting an APAC conference all last week for 40 some odd team members from around the world.  On top of that, there were 2 key items to my vision that I was not able to find - but managed to “pry” one from something in my house last minute.
Let’s do a walk through of my “hack”.  The concept is really quite …

Drinking Tea is Healthier than Drinking Water

I love BBC news.  It’s one of my regular news feeds - especially their “magazine” section which talks about random and interesting things.  Here’s one find that really jives with me - how “drinking” tea appears to be healthier than just “drinking water”.  There is a conception that tea has caffeine, which leads to dehydration - but this is in extreme amounts.  This article does a great job of balancing why teas are good for you and clarifies the dehydration phenomenon.
Teas contain both antioxidants (which are known to assist with …

When Should You Stop Using the Toddler Tub?

As parents, there are endless questions of when you should hit each milestone with your child.  From birth, you’re bombarded with “is this the right time to..”  Let’s fill in some blanks.  “…start solids?” “…try potty training?”  “…stop breastfeeding?”  The list goes on and on.  Well, one conversation that I recently had with some other mommies at Vanessa’s school is the migration date of a child from the baby tub to the adult tub.
One mother was very proud that she had migrated her children (aged 2 and 4) into the …

Hong Kong Jockey Club: Horse Racing

Wow!  Yesterday (on behalf of my company) we went to the Happy Valley Hong Kong Jockey Club Racetrack.  Let me sum up this experience in one word.  Incredible.  Even though it was a work night and I was with my colleagues, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.  It’s a consortium of good food, fine wines, great company, small talk and of course, winning (or losing) big money.   We were placed in a private box up on the 8th floor with a private full course buffet, free flowing beverages, including alcohol …

Intercontinental Hong Kong Buffet Review

On Sunday night, my husband wanted to surprise his father with a special “Father’s Day Buffet” at the InterContinental in Hong Kong.  Easily enough, I searched for their number via google, called them up and made reservations 5 days earlier (wow, that was easy).  When the day dawned and we headed over to the InterContinental - they told me that I didn’t have reservations at the buffet.  Well, that’s a surprise!  Instead, after having clarified we were actually booked at the InterContinental Grand Stanford Hotel - we had to pay …

Google Contacts Gets Beefed Up

FINALLY!!!  After having posted about going completely “Googled” - meaning that I am now managing my contacts, calendar and email from one centralized place and I was complaining about the lack of features (or fields) in their contacts application, they’ve beefed it up!
You can now find fields such as:

Title
Company (It’s important now that my db is getting bigger and bigger)
Birthday (This is important to me - especially with so many kids)
Messaging Contacts (With ICQ, AOL, MSN, the works, I can’t remember it all)
Website
Nickname
Photo
And many more

I’m so glad they’ve finally put …

Up Close and Personal

Up close & personal - that’s how I like it.  She’s probably wondering why my camera is so close.  HAHA.  The mobiles in the background is an art display of children’s mobile pieces sponsored by Standard Chartered - some charity event.  It was a nice display - colourful and artsy.  The children loved it.

Lack of Inactivity

I am apologizing for my recent lull and inactivity.  This is because I am hard at work on “Hacking my Moleskine” - which is a personal pet project that I voluntarily signed up for just for fun.  It was a local competition and I figured I could spare some time out of my blogging activities to do it - so I did.  Truth be told, I didn’t expect to have my submission accepted, but it was and now I’m “stuck” with it.  I don’t mind.  It’s been fun and completely …

“Save Our Summer Vacation” movement

LOL.  I came across this interesting site that petitions its readers to join their fight for having an extra holiday (August 7 to be exact).  They call it the “Save Our Summer Vacation” movement.  Unfortunately, this only applies to the US, but if they are successful - I hope that that holiday replicates elsewhere (although I highly doubt it).
It’s an interesting concept.  I mean, I would definitely love to have extra holidays - especially since I’m working full-time now and well, days off are deducted off your yearly vacation days …

Another published article on BrightHub.com from yours truly.  Again, most of the articles I write for them are in the Project Management section and really encapsulate stuff I am doing at work.  So it’s completely relevant (to me) and interesting.  It is after all, stuff I learned in my Management Science Minor on top of my Engineering Major and it is completely and utterly applicable to my current job.  It’s interesting how I can actually apply theoretical stuff from school to work!
Check it out:  The Importance of Implementing a Weekly …
