Growing Beans
Vanessa brought home the CUTEST experiment for a 3-year old child. They were growing beans in Nursery school the past few days. BEANS! I didn’t grow beans until I was in grade 2, at the age of 7. Vanessa explained to me that this was her plant and that she grew it. She then proceeded to pick off parts of the plant, in which I explained to her that growing a plant is a big responsibility. I explained that the plant was like a baby. It needs food (water and sunlight) and tender loving care (no ripping of limbs) in order for it to grow big and strong. I wanted to explain photosynthesis to her, but thought that that would be too advanced at this time.
Totally impressive eh? BEANS! At 3! I’m loving her school more and more and glad that I sent her there!

OMG that is totally awesome! I remember doing all these green-bean experiments in elementary school, but that wasn’t until we were 8-9 years old. It’s a great little project b/c it makes her feel proud that she grew it and teaches her about responsibility.
BTW, was just going to make a post, “Working Mom” about working smart and updating your blog! Was running out of reading material…glad to see this post.
NO kidding eh? I was so impressed and surprised when she showed this to me last night. Of course, I had to take pictures of it and brag (a parents’ right).
Can’t wait until your son does that eh?
I totally can’t wait until Nicholas does that. I’m always envying Vanessa, Natalie and Vicky…but Nicholas will always be a step behind.
Seems like Kornhill is a really good school! She’s learning so much!
