How to Lose (or Hide) Your Mommy Tummy

14 November 2008 774 views One Comment

I’ve been dealing with this problem since Victoria’s birth.  Dennis pokes fun at me saying that I’m carrying a Doraemon secret pocket (like the cartoon character) and laughs when I wear tighter shirts.  Quite frankly, I don’t care about his laughing, because it’s almost a perverse kind of loving that we share together.  I always poke fun at his protruding belly and squeeze the excesses as I pass him in the hall.  So I decided to look it up on how to “trim” this excess for mommies.  I found a few articles detailing how to reduce this flab and it looks like I’ll need to take some proactive steps in getting the overhang smaller.

One useful key is to sit and stand up straight to enforce the habit of a straight spine and tigher stomach.  This is very useful because the slouching will make it look worse and in the long run, but terrible for your posture.  The key muscle group to focus on is called tranverse abdominis.  By remembering to sit and stand up straight (kind of sucking in your abdomen), you can subconsciously help those muscles strengthen and tone and hopefully, flatten that flab.

So mommies who are interested (or daddies who tread in the same waters), check it out:
